St. Albert Community Information and Volunteer Centre's future

The City of St. Albert’s Community Services Advisory Committee (CSAC) has recommended that CIVC not receive Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) funding in 2020.

In response, CIVC’s board and staff are evaluating the future of the organization's programs and services. Top priority is being given to ensuring that Sidekicks Mentoring and the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program continue to provide uninterrupted services next year through other agencies. Information and Referral services will be handled through Alberta 211, mandated to be province-wide in 2020.

All 2019 registered courses will continue as planned. In 2020, the Babysitting Safety Course will be offered through the St. Albert Family Resource Centre (FRC).

The Volunteer Centre's web services and events such as Volunteer Fair will continue as usual into 2020 and decisions for their future will be made then. However, the Centre will no longer occupy the office space at #10, 215 Carnegie Drive and therefore, free community space for non-profits will be discontinued in 2020.

We thank the St. Albert community for its support for the past 39 years and assure everyone that most of CIVC's valued programs and services will continue to be available, just in different form.
