Never Too Young to Volunteer!

We truly believe that giving back needs to start young. As a parent, you can help guide your child into the wonderful world of volunteerism. Not sure how? Here are some of our tips:

Volunteer as a family!

Especially for children under 12, volunteering as a family can be the best way to introduce your child to volunteering.

Try helping out at a community event! St. Albert hosts many festivals, sporting competitions, and other events throughout the year that welcome families as volunteers. It’s not only a great learning experience, but also can be a wonderful way to bond as a family.

Build on their interests

Got a swimmer in the family? An animal lover? Maybe your child is eco-conscious, or loves to dance? Finding volunteer opportunities that fit with your youth’s interests and passions is the best way to introduce them to volunteerism.

Not sure what’s out there? Contact the Volunteer Centre and we can help find the right fit!

Encourage group volunteering

It can be intimidating to volunteer alone. Luckily, many organizations welcome small groups as volunteers. Encouraging your child to volunteer with friends can be the perfect way to ease into volunteering. It won’t be long before he or she will have the confidence to volunteer alone!
