Whether you Click, Call or Come in the goal at St. Albert CIVC is to provide information that links people with the appropriate agency or the service they need.

Our data base lists over 240 community organizations and agencies and we are a partner with the InformACR internet data base which contains information for the Alberta Capital Region. In 2009, CIVC filled 36,693 requests for information.

Queries cover the gamut from all walks of life. There are questions about social needs such as, “Where is the food bank?” or, “Where can I get counseling?” or “Where can I find child care?”. But there may also be questions about family issues, housing, seniors’ transportation and health issues or about filling personal needs such as, “Where can I find a recreational club for myself or my children?” They may be as simple as, “Where can I go skating?” or as complex as, “I have experienced abuse; I just lost my apartment; I have no food? Where can I get help?”

CIVC maintains a computerized babysitting referral service registry, an apartment rental information list, basement suite rental information list, service clubs/recreation and sports lists and child care lists.

In addition, five babysitting courses were offered with 75 participants. Our volunteers did the income taxes for 269 seniors, disabled and low-income area residents.
