Sidekicks Mentoring - Volunteer and Join the Family

February 24, 2010

Sidekicks is a one-on-one mentoring program for St. Albert youth. Youths and their mentors may go for bike rides; they might build a model airplane; go to a movie; toboggan on Seven Hills; go swimming at Fountain Park Pool, or just kick back and hang out.

In addition to the individual activities, Sidekicks has many group activities that involve the entire family, Sidekicks and mentors. In that way, the Sidekicks program becomes a greater family. Sidekicks play together and they work together too as volunteers, giving back to the community at such organizations as the food bank.

All the group activities lead to multiple layers of friendship and that adds up to a better, stronger community. The mentors and clients become friends for sure, but also Sidekick parents become acquainted with each other. Most important, because there are so many group activities, Sidekicks develop friendships and mentor and support each other.
